Ambassador Rahman Mustafayev held a meeting with representatives of local media

Last month, Azerbaijan carried out local anti-terrorist measures. Our country has prepared plans for humanitarian efforts and reintegration of the Armenian population in the region. The main issue on our agenda is the development of peace with Armenia and cooperation in the region.

The Ambassador of Azerbaijan to the Netherlands, Rahman Mustafayev, expressed these views at a meeting with representatives of local media.

The meeting was attended by a group of journalists from leading Dutch newspapers such as "De Volkskrant" (People's Newspaper), "NRC Handelsblad" (New Rotterdam newspaper), "Holland Times", as well as from the pan-European publication "Diplomatic Magazine".

The ambassador gave detailed information to the journalists about the causes and results of the local anti-terrorist measures implemented by Azerbaijan in Karabakh, on September 19-20, Azerbaijan's humanitarian support efforts in the region and plans for the reintegration of the Armenian population, the prospects of the negotiation process, and the negotiations conducted in the direction of signing a peace treaty with Armenia. The diplomat drew attention to the possibility of regional cooperation between Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia in a tripartite format within the framework of the visit of the President of Azerbaijan to Georgia.

Ambassador R. Mustafayev pointed out with facts that the claims of "ethnic cleansing," as well as all other claims made against Azerbaijan, are groundless. It was reported that ireal ethnic cleansing was carried out against the Azerbaijani population living in Armenia in 1987-1991, and again in 1991-1993 in the Karabakh region and 7 districts around it. It was emphasized that the international community, Europe and its political institutions turned a blind eye to the expulsion of 1 million Azerbaijanis from their homeland, the ethnic cleansing committed by Armenia against Azerbaijanis, and took an unfair position.

The diplomat spoke about the plans of the Azerbaijani government to return the forcibly expelled Azerbaijani population from Armenia to their places of residence, stressing that this is justified from the point of view of international law.

Addressing the role of the international community in establishing peace in the South Caucasus, the Azerbaijani ambassador called on the Dutch government to refrain from supporting the destructive approaches of Yerevan and to support Baku's efforts to create an environment of peace and cooperation in the region and sign a peace treaty. He noted with regret that The Hague, which is considered the capital of international law and justice, political parties and the parliament of the Netherlands still do not want to admit that the norms of international law and justice have been restored in our region thanks to Baku's decisive actions and active diplomacy.

During the meeting, journalists were shown a documentary film prepared by the embassy about the elimination of the positions of illegal Armenian armed groups and the weapons confiscated from them.
